your question is to general so here is an answer anywhere from a little to alot........I found a rolled 85 gt for 650 and when I was all done after selling parts off the donor car and I went carbed = cheaper I had a total investment of 300.00 in the swap......find a donor car or the swap will be rather expensive

I may be doing a V8 swap on my 85 notch eventually. I bookmarked this page with some information.

well my plan is to find a 5.0 to drop into a 81 fairmont that has a 4cyl currently so i was wondering the approach i should take, and how much more expensive/hard is it to do fuel injection?

I'd guess you'd need a wiring harness for fuel injection and a comprter from a mustang. I have no idea from there. It would be cheaper to go carbureted.
