Default electrical question

my last thread disappeared so.

I am hooking my a-piller gauges and my tach to the light switch on my dash. Would the shift light on the tach still work if my lights are off?

shift light should have nothing to do with the ilumination for the gauges.....you wire the shigt light to a switched 12 v source not to the light switch/source

actually wouldnt it be a good idea to hook the 12v wire to the light switch? that way whenever he wants to use the shift light he can just flip on the drl's. and during normal driving it wont be working and he wont have to see that bright a$$ light all the time.
