Default Neee a little help with tranny questions

I have a few questons I need some help with. I have a 93tranny fora 4cyl mustang with about 30,000 miles on it attatched to the motor with a blown head gasket. I was wondering would I be able to use it on with my 88GT it has right now a 95 Cobra tranny in it. I was told that I could as long as I took the tranny loose form the bell housing it would be the same. Then I was told that it's not the gear ration or all the inner parts are different. I would like to know if this is true or not true. My 95 Cobra tranny pops out in 2nd gear or sometime when I am crusing I cant even get it to get in to gear, I can though when the RPM'S are high most of the time. I was told it maybe a easy fix with my syncronizers or something beingthe top portion of the tranny just has to be taken off and one of the peice's worn out or something. Thanks for whoever is reading this and I appreciate the help. I will be posting pictures of the BEAST later after I get 2nd gear figured out.

you can use a 4cyl tranny..it isnt quite as strong as a 5.0 t5, and the gear ratios are different..but it will work..with some stipulations..first if you do have a 95 cobra trans in there ..it must have had the input shaft swapped because the sn modles t5 had a longer shaft..to use the 4cyl t5 u would still have to swap input shafts because the tip diameter is different...and theres somethin different with the cobra t5s from sn's..not sure but its like different needle bearing or something like that..but it can be made to work, even if it might grenade first time u hit a gear hard..

GRENADE I don't won't it to blow up but I was told it maybe something small in the shifter or top of the tranny I was wonder if I could unbolt the top half of the 93 tranny around the shifter and pull it up and swap it out on the Cobra tranny it has a PRO 50 shifter...

Yea wat 94 said, There is a diff in input shafts i ran into this problem when swaping my auto to maunal. I had to buy a 94-95 inputshaft. And my friend had a 4cyl t-5 and the input shaft was a little shorter than a regular stock t-5 input shaft. Best bet would be to buy the right input shaft for your year car so you know it rides in the pilot bearng correctly.
