RE: HELP to slow 5.0 what is wrong
Does it have good throttle response. That carb is big for a 302. I have a 362 with a bigger cam, more compression and i run a 750. I dont think your times are too bad for your combo. Hint: the patriots could be holdin ya back. If anything it's a mix match of parts. You probably could have done better but for what you spent 13.0x's are not bad. Hell that's 2 seconds faster than stock.

Great throttle response 6900 in a heartbeat. I figured it was rich. The carb came with the car,so I have'nt touched it yet. Going to throw the vac gauge on it then go thru it. I know its big being a 750. I have no idea of what jets are in it

Happy as SH. Got back to the track last night. Went thru the carb and the rest of the car. After a little issue. Lost oil pressure pulled the engine replaced the pump, no better, found out after pulling the intake off that the gally oil plug was sitting inside my intake. Put a new one in with some thread lock. Anyway, 11.69 at 114.37 going to pull the 4:30 gears for 4:10's Ran out of motor about 175 ft out. Just want to thank everybody for all the advice. NowI can't wait to get my 347 in. This one will be filled with oil under an engine bag as a backup Thanks again E

The patriot heads aren't that great, and the carb and intake are prolly a bit big, but it still shows that 302's can make power(you're running with a lot of 347's ). With better(not necessarily bigger) heads and prolly a bit smaller intake and carb it'd run even faster. You might wanna consider an RPM Air Gap for the 347 to run with that cam, and maybe some better heads if the budget allows. The 750 would prolly be about right on the 347 if you reuse the cam.
