tranny bolts
three of the bolts were super simple, all except one, it is getting on my nerves. i was planning on leaving the bellhousing attached to the engine but if i cant get it loose im gonna have to do the whole assembly[&:]

RE: tranny bolts
im assuming ur taking the tranny off the bellhouseing?...if so which bolts giving ya the problem...im guessin the drivers top side?...i know that was the worst for me cuz we had to take mine down yesterday to replace the to bearing..it was a pain to get out but just kept tryin different angles n it came out.

RE: tranny bolts
it may have been that side on mine i cant remember for sure..i know we had a big azz breaker bar lol with a reducer to fit the right socket and i think a swivel up in there to get a easier angle..

no passenger side upper, ive lost alot of strength after my motorcycle wreck and the bolt is in an odd angle.

RE: tranny bolts
That one is a PITA, took me the longest.
IIRC, its a 15mm, I had a 15mm deep, that wouldn't work, went to sears and got a short, and was able it get the breaker bar to fit somehow, I don't remember if I used an extension or not (it was a game of trying to get the socket on the proper flat and rotating the 1/2" square drive to get it in the best position. I did press up hard on the body hump, and it seemed like the body hmp flexed a bit. Then heard the bolt give, which was a big relief. That was the the one bolt that wasted the most of my time.

RE: tranny bolts
i got it off with a hand wrench and alot of "****ING MOOOOVVVVEEEE"
you may have luck with a breaker bar, and a couple LONG extensions, get alot of movement with the wrench BEHIND the tranny, thats how i got it back on the extensions will go straight back through the channel thingies and make it much easier
christ, alot of 5.0 guys are taking out their trannies lately

RE: tranny bolts
yeah i know to use the breaker bar etc. i had a little mini torch fired it up nothing at all. i sheared off a short extension. then i put the socket directly on then applied the bar it split up the side. im gonna find my impact even if i have to go to work and pick up my sockets and get that sucker loose. if it doesn't come loose then there is something else wrong.
if i cant get it seperated them im gonna get another bellhousing and install the tranny
then grind off the bolt head and drill it out and helicoil it and save the budted tranny for later maybe do a rebuild and 5spd swap in my 65
