Original Radio Equipment for 1986 Mustang
Hello all,
I have recently purchased a 1986 Mustang LX but the radio equipment including the speakers is gone. I would liek to know what the car originally had in it so I can try to find and purchase replacements. Can someone please let me know what the speaker sizes that came in this model were. Thanks in advance!

oh man, putting a factory deck BACK IN an 86? those were not happy years for mustang stereo owners as the radio was installed in the dash, and then the dash was installed in the car. If you did not want to properly take off the entire dash, you had to remove the center consol, all of the heating/ac ducting, and on person would pry up on the dash while the other wiggled the radio out of the back while eating 10yrs worth of dust. After all that you were maybe half way through with the fighting as it used a common left/right grounding system which meant you either had to run wire to each speaker or find the common grounds in the kicks and seperate them. If I peson were to walk into a shop today, with your car in stock condition and wanted a radio installed, it would honestly cost them hundres of dollars for just a deck install if they would take the car, alot of places turn them away....
IF you could find astill working 86 stereo, I could not imagine what you would need to go through to put it back in and I have been installing for almost 15 yrs....
