i went from mac shorties to ceramic longtubes and will NEVER buy shorties again
its hard to userstand until you have them in your hands and are installing them

and when you turn on the engine that first time... forget it. you will know if you buy them

go with ceramic definetly

chrome will rust and pit as soon as it gets a chance, also, ceramic helps keep the heat out.

while you have the car apart, I have heard some say that a mini starter and a heat shield for it is a good idea, cuz LTs can cook the starter, thus destroying it. (MMFF did an article on it a while ago, I read it, but cannot remember which issue it is...) and some people have had problems with BBK LTs lining up with their H-pipe, something about the welds being off, so just somethign to keep in mind. I have BBK Equal length shortiesand a MACprochamber offroad x-pipe on my car, and come summer a MAC catback....

and hollister was right about the gears....

I have stockers in mine, but I heard 3:55s are good, but some argue that there isnt much of a difference in the RPMS at highway speeds between the 3:55s and 3:73s, but dont hold me too it,

I'm sure others will post and have more insight than I do

Look at the cover on the rearend. It will have something like 2L73 or 3L08. 2.73 or 3.08 LS.
I like my 3.55's. Makes 1st gear a bit more useful than 3.73 or 4.10's do. If you run taller than a 26" or so tire, then maybe 3.73's or 4.10's.

I have BBK Ceramic shorties, bassani catted x and flows - car sounds good. I get a lot of compliments. The only complaint I have is the notorious 2200 drone - kills my ears and attempting to talk to anyone in the car is useless. However,I don't get in my car to have a chat session so yap all you want - I cant hear you.

I also have a 5 speed with 3.73's and first gear goes away very quickly...

Another way to check your gearing is jack up the back end with the car in neutral, put a mark on the drive shaft and spin the back tires one complete revolutions. count the number of times the mark on the drive shaft goes around and it will give you a ball park rear end gear. example 3 and a half times around would be a 3.55 -a little over 4 times would be a 4.10 and so on.
