Default Went to Fomoso this weekend.

Went to Fomoso yesterday and today. Made it to the 3rd round of eliminations in the Summit Series Sportman class. Paid $25 and I spent $40 on fuel. Had a blast. My best et of the weekend was a 13.85 with a 1.879 60 ft time. the 1/8 was 8.85 @ 78.30. My qualifying r/t's were .089 & .075. I felt real goodas this was mythrid outing since 1959. On the run I lost, I was on his door in the traps and gaining. My r/t was .110. Don't know if .03 would have made a difference or not.

Now for a question. Both earlier outings this spring I was on hard street tires. Had low to mid 14's @ 98+ MPH both times. Today the only change was M/T street radial drag tires. Best MPH was 98+. That makes sence to my, but why so slow when my et's are good. I saw 3 or 4 cars run 14's @ 100+. My take is that my setup, (even though I built the car for road courses), is pretty good and that I am under powered.

Modifications front to rear:
ยจ Moved the battery to the trunk. It has a new 900 cranking-amp battery.
ยจ Underdrive pulleys.
ยจ K&N air filter.
ยจ 76mm C&L mass air.
ยจ 70mm Professional Products throttle body.
ยจ Holley manual fuel pressure regulator.
ยจ MSD coil, distributor cap and 8mm wires.
ยจ Professional Products intake manifold w/ 3.8โ€ phenolic spacer. (this is an Edelbrock RPM Performer clone)
ยจ Crane 1.7:1 rocker arms.
ยจ 24# injectors.
ยจ New AGR 15:1 power steering rack 7 pinion.
ยจ Flaming River steering shaft.
ยจ BBK equal length ceramic coated shorty headers.
ยจ Dyna-max S.S. 2-1/2โ€ Hi Flow Cats & H-pipes.
ยจ Flowmaster cat-back 2-1/2โ€ exhaust
ยจ Steeda strut tower brace.
ยจ Steeda G-Trak bar (to stiffen the K-member).
ยจ Steeda adjustable caster camber plates.
ยจ Steeda bump steer kit.
ยจ SN 95 spindles & front lower control arms & ball joints.
ยจ Maximum Motorsport 400#/in. coil overs w/ Bilsteine struts specially valved for the Fox Mustang.
ยจ Hawk HB+ brake pads.
ยจ 13โ€ Cobra front disk brakes with โ€™99 master cyl. & SS brake lines.
ยจ Maximum Motorsports manual brake proportioning valve.
ยจ Steeda full length subframe connectors.
ยจ MM torque arm.
ยจ MM 250#/in rear coil overs w/ Bilstein shocks specially valved for the Fox Mustang.
ยจ Lincoln Mark VII rear disk brakes & SS brake lines.
ยจ Maximum Motorsports adjustable rear lower control arms. Uppers are now removed as are the quad shocks.
ยจ Maximum Motorsports panhard bar.
ยจ Maximum Motorsports adjustable rear swaybar.
ยจ All bushings are polyurethane.
ยจ 3.73 Ford Racng limited slip rear gears.
ยจ 5 lug 17 X 9 rims with 245/45/17 tires. (wear rating = 200)
ยจ 1 pair of Cragar 15X8 rims with MT P255/60X15 DOT legal radials)

No heads or cam.

I am looking at AFR 165's and a smog legal cam. (I live in Calif. and want to drive it on the streets).
For those of you who got this far, what are your thoughts and suggestions?

your et is in line with your mph.. my 92 runs 13.70's @99mph.. the cars running low 14's at over 100mph most likely have traction issues..you'd need to see their 60 fts

Haha, yep. Look at my thread and my times. I was spinning basically in 1st 2nd and 3rd. I ended up with 13.75 @105 last night. Wish my car got 1.9 60' times My best was 2.277. (Jealous!)

Worrying about having to stay smog legalis no fun[&o]

with a trap of 105 you should be running 12.70's / 12.80's at 105 that's what I used to run with traction

Sounds about right. You'll find that out here at Famoso there are more than a handful of guys who insist on doing things the way they want and won't listen to anyone else's advice on anything(or ask for it). You end up with guys on drag slicks that don't heat them properly and launch like crap, or guys with nothing in their suspension and spin like mad trying to launch. Famoso is a VERY good track since they laid the new top last summer. Some of the guys at the March Meets last month were pulling SUB 1.0 short times, so obviously track condition isn't an issue(they're meticulous about how they maintain the track). Those were also the guys running fuel cars, so don't expect to pull those kinds of 60's. They have more $$$ in their suspension than most of us have in our entire car.

A lot of the guys that run in the Sportsman class out here are retards too. You'd be amazed at how many non streetable, trailered race cars with slicks run mid 14's on a good day. If you're willing to learn and accept different ideas, you could prolly go out and dominate in the sportsman/hot rod class running on street tires. There were quite a few 14 second cars at the March Meet.[&:]
