hello i have an 89 mustang gt 5.0 302 that im guna be rebuilding i plan on doing the following, new pistons and rings on stock heads 24 lb. injectors f303 cam w/ ford lifters, bbk cold air intake, chip, 3.73 gears, full 2.5exhaust h/pipe w/ equal length headers, bbk throttle body, bbk fuel pump, and bbk pulley kit.Few questions will the stock upper and lower intake be ok with those mods? will i have enough clearance with that cam? What pistons should i buy for clearance?Should i get 1.6 or 1.7 inch lifters?And whats a good chip if i need it? I kno kinda askin alot but any help would be much appreciated, thanxxx

your first mistake is using the stock heads, they are the choking point on a 5.0, if your on a budget try getting some GT40s from a latemodel explorer, that f cam is abit outdated something with a dual pattern would be better. Is this an auto or 5spd? you probably wont need a chip. get the gt40 intake from the explorer,

its a 5 speed, and i can get a set of gt 40 heads for 300 bucks so ill prob do that, and you do think ill need a chip wit all those mods?

no chip maybe a nice good tune would do personally.

get a set of heads and f-cam will clear stock pistons fine but always check ptv irregardless and get an intake, like the cobra or gt-40 don't even think of choking the motor with a stock intake and 1.6 rockers are fine

thanx for the help, much appreciated, one quik question do i needa switch the upper and lower intake, and didnt you say i could get one off an explorer, thanx alot

95 and up until 2001 ???? also the mountaineer is the sister explorer....
