black sticky stuff under weatherstripping
anyone have an easy and clean way to remove that dreaded black tar like stuff under weatherstripping around bottom of vert top?
i got the trim off, them removed the rubber, and there it is. and lots of it. also once i remove it do i need to put something back when i install?

Black stuff is weather stripping adhesive from the factory. It just becomes hard after few years. Use a putty knife and sand paper to get them off.
You can buyweather stripping adhesiveat any auto shop and you must put it on.

you mentioned it gets hard after a few years. i've got an 86 vert, and this is the first time this has been done, and it is a sticky gooey mess lol
