i have a 1990 gt it has 170000 miles and its got some problems it leaks all over the place, some one told me it has a valve tapping (how could i fix that) and i was doing like 120 and it started doing this surging thing like it would lose power for a second then come back and do it over and over so i just figure its time for a new engine were could i find one.

check it for tune and or perform a koer test and look for codes..I doubt needing a rebuild is the prob as you think

170000 is nothin for a 5.0

my last one had 172k on it, raced it twice a week and drove it daily for 2 years till i crashed it [:@]

i agree 170 is not a whole olt as i pulled my stock 177,000 mile motor to replace with a faster motor and when i pulled off the heads the holes still had the factory cross hatchings and bearings were still alright. fix the leaks,do a koef,koer test and drive it.....
