Default Exhaust size question

Looking into getting 1 5/8" equal shorties, 2 1/2" o/r h pipe and 2 1/4" catback. Will the diameters work okay (in particular going from a 2.5 h to a 2.25 catback)? It's mac shorties, mac h pipe and dynomax catback.

Why not do 2.5 for H and catback? I had 2.5 catback and went to some shop that ripped me off on a custom H pipe that was 2.25" instead of 2.5". When I replaced it with a 2.5" H pipe it sounded deeper and louder....pipe diameter makes a difference on sound.

The 2.5" is more expensive.
