yea thats why i wanted to leave them so i can make sure i get no hop.....so can i do the shocks and struts myself or do they need special tools?

nope they are pretty straight forward. just regular sockets and wrenches worked fine for me

Both of mine were completely blown when I took them off.
If you are getting bad hop you might want to see if they are shot...
