fuel pump, timing, fuel pressure?
i have a bad hesitation at low rpms then teh car get a boost of power and runs fine but at 4500rpms the motor barely climbs and goes...what the hell is going on here?

RE: fuel pump, timing, fuel pressure?
Well any of the 3 can cause it but if the fuel pump is bad then you can knock out two birds with one stone, fix the pump(get a new one 255lhp are cheaper by the day better to have more than enough pump)fix the pressure(with new filter ofcourse) and not enough timing can also cause it, check the timing and set it between 12 and 15 with the timing spout or chip out which ever you may call it! just some thought that might help you.

thanks, im going to try the fuel pump first, but why would the pump cause me to hesiate at low rpms?

screws onto the schredor valve on the rail and if you buy a gauge with a long enough lead you can tape it to the windshield go for a test drive and monitor pressure under a load and see what happens when it gets to problem rpm.....I'd check the plugs and timing if fuel filter isn't clogged and pressure is fine under a load ..problem is elsewhere

If you ahve the extra money a wise investment would be a aftermarket regulator and a gauge setup where you can check and set your pressure without the redneck rigging.
For your fuel pump to be bad it dosent have to loose pressure under a load! A while back i had a similar preoblem and i done a few different checks and all showed acceptable fuel, but finally after everything i changed the pump and it was teh miracle cure, fuel can be a nasty problem sometimes!
stock fuel pump live up to the stock part, do hardly anything else and you need to upgrade anyway!
