this isnt the fast and the furious (or slow and frivelous, i must say)LOL

tuning is well daunting. it takes hours and hours and reading and trial and error to get it right.
what are your mods?

Tweecer R/T or the Anderson PMS are 2 tuning devices used on 5.0's
i have a Tweecer, and its not all that great to have a laptop in the car at all times, kinda a pain.

doesnt really sound like you need a personal tuner but to answer your question one of our older memebers(samseed) used tweecer and he was extremely pleased with his results but he also had forced induction, methanol and nitrous injection.

go to www.andersonmotorsports.com and look at there offerings on PMS. I have hear great things about it, and talked to a guy who was running it on his car at a car show. He had a 347 with paxton 2000 and 100 wet shot. Said he was putting down close to 800 at the wheels and that the pms really made it livable on the street.

They also have articles on their website about using this systme on N/A, Nitrous, And supercharged engines

hope this helps
