most likely with the 185's youll have to notch but it also depends on the cam characteristics, and a custom cam could possibly keep u from having to notch its just that custom cams are 300-400 bucks or notching pistons will also cost u a few bucks
not to start anything have u thought about twisted wedge heads u can run any off the shelf cam with a lift to around .540 without notching the stock pistons....
