yes i've pulled it once without the tranny and twice with the tranny hooked up and its much easier to get all back together if you pull them both. plus it only takes like half an hour to get the tranny ready to pull also. and it only took me that long for an auto while crawling on the floor.

Yeah, rear first tranny last would be easiest. On the back of the drive shaft there's 4 bolts, you need a 12 point socket, don't remember the size though. Then at the tranny it just slides out.
Your going to have to have it off when you go to put the tranny back in so instead of just droppin the front outta the tranny i'd just take it out.
