Rear quarter window problem 87 GT Vert
 

Hey guys,

I have a problem with my rear quarter windows in my 87 GT Vert. The windows wont go up without me holding the button up and pulling on the window up. I also have to help the window line up so that the windows are sealed from water. But the windows seem to go down by themselves just fine. Both motors make noise when I press up or down. I am not sure if they need to be replaced or what, but like I said they seem to go down fine just not up. Any help? Thanks!

The motors have plastic gears in them that wear out. That's most likely what's wrong.

Ok so can I just buy the plastic pieces and take the motor apart? Also if you have any diagrams or instructions that would be awesome! Also hey PRO, I see youre from MD, where at? I live in Pasadena

I live in MoCo. You may be able to get the replacement gears local, if not, www.50resto.com has them. As far as instructions, you just gotta get in there and start taking things apart. I need to replace the ones on my wifes vert but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. :o

One mustang gear there says it wont work on convertible rear window motors.
