Default spark plugs and oil

well as some of you know i had a business put a motor in one of my DD's a while back that they completely screwed up on. i currently have a law suit going on against them to attempt to recoup some of the money in this transaction.

well i decided to check on a couple things because of how the car runs since i was forced to drive it these past couple of days

first off:
spark plugs the tips are white. thats a lean condition correct?? also several that i checked have oil on them and around some of the threads i guess you could say.

and lastly:
when i checked the oil the other day it smelled like it has gas in it. what could cause this?

now let me say that the check engine light is on, abs light, temp guage maxes out, low coolant light flashes (but its full) and the list goes on

any and all help is appreciated

The tips of the electrode are white? It'd help if you could post pics. If it has white ash buildup that could be from burning oil. If they're white like burnt white then it's too hot. Maybe too lean, could be too hot of a plug temp range as well, or too much plug gap. Also is the oil on them just around the threads, or is it on the insulator or any part of the plug that's inside the chamber? Just the threads is most likely a valve cover leak. The gas smell is typically associated with failed pump diaphragms on carb'd cars, but since you're EFI it could be too rich of a mixture and poorly seating rings.

Post pics of the plugs if you can.

Well if its oil, check oil every day, and see if its losing oil. If so it would smoke, if it was lean it would smoke. Watch the tell pips, and have some one pump the gas as you look for smoke. Then tell us what color. Also a tune up with new wires and spark plugs. Make sure you gap them right, and spark plugs for that car or not gaped right from factory.

This is a mustang forum, so a heads up there be for the angry stang nuts come after you but you know that already

P.S: where at in KY by the way?

If it's burning oil it many not necessarily smoke. Post pics of the plugs, they'll say more than anything else what's going on.
