Default Shift rpm?

So I'm sure that this has been asked a million times but I can't seem to find anything in the search so I'd figure I'll ask. What rpm do you guys shift at when really trying to wring out every ounce of power? The reason I ask is because I've never revved a stock 5.0 past 5K rpms because they really don't pull after that. Even at the track I've never intentionally taken it above 5.2K rpms. Today I was out messing around and just stayed in it until 5.5K rpms and it was still pulling. For the record the only thing done internally to the engine is an e303 cam. I know people claim that their car pulls over 5K rpms but I mean this thing still had me in the back of the seat and it kind of shocked the hell out of me.

best and most accurate way would be a dyno to find out your peak horseys or goto track and see what brings out the best times. as far as my car when it was stock i would goto redline it might stop pulling real hard but just need to think about where your rpms are going to be in the next gear
