1995 GT aftermarket radio install
I am looking to replace the stock Ford radio cassette, Mach 460 option, with a Kenwood KDC-X7529 CD unit. I just want to swap the head unit using existing speakers, amps etc.
Is this a straight forward swap or should I take it to an expert installer?
Any help will be appreciated.
Edit, Sorry, posted in wrong forum. Will re-post in Audio

You can buy an installation kit and a wiring adaptor kit from Best Buy. Makes it basically a plug and play install. The only thing you have to do is wire the new harness to the new head unit. It's not a big deal.

Stereos are easy to install. The biggest time consumer for me is remembering which speaker wires go to what speaker lol. I have never used a install kit though. I just cut the stock plug and look for my hot/acc/ground/ill. wires and go at it. But that is just me though. Never had any problems.

Thanks for the replies.
I have just taken out the stock radio, unfortunately someone has been there before me
I am guessing that a previous owner had installed an aftermarket then re-installed the stock when selling. All the wires had been cut even the antenna cable! The original harness has then been crimped together. I hate butchers!
I will still need to get the adapter harness so I can use the 460 amps
