Default this makes me sad...

Sally developed cancer, ***-rot, rust etc...

looks like I may just have to have the whole taillight panel replaced oneday...

here are some pics... and this is why my trunk is leaking, driver side is the same only not as developed yet...

here it is from inside....

it looks worse in here...

crappy seam sealer... thats all I have to say...

now what can I do to prevent it from leaking more? I hate to say that I'll slap some filler on it etc... but I will have the bodyshop that did my mom's GT up look at it to see if he can patch it... but that may wait till summer as funds are limited...

when I go home, I will grind all the cancer off on the outside, re seam seal it and hit it with some POR-15...

yeah, they do suck... tho according to all the paperwork, she was from MD, I dunno if she was sold there and how long until she moved up to PA, but other than that and behind the front wheel on the driver side fender, she is extremely extremely clean... she was undercoated... I'll try my best to repair it till I can afford to send her to the bodyman... all it really needs is a patch in each corner and some good seam sealer...

after this winter, she only has to endure 1-2 more and then she is a summer only car.... I'm thinking a Ford Fusion I-4 with the 5speed manual...

luckily its in a spot noone can see, so even if the repair job looks like crap, as long as its
strong, welded water tight and rust resistant, I'll be happy...

Like mjr46 said wire brush it or have it sand blasted, I wouldn't grind,it takes some good material with it. Sandblast and resurface w/fiberglass filler and if done up properly it should be good for a looong time.

on side note
I took care of my carpet too, got that sucker nice and dry... and I pulled off the mass backing in the footwell areas of the carpet... cuz it was pretty nasty... had the top down, the carpet peeled back and some window fans running on if for 2 hours... dried it right up
