Talking Pickin up an 85 gt tomorrow**PICS ON PAGE 2**

finaly gfound someone who actually wants to deal and not just get offers on craigslist. I'll be pickin up an 85gt, t-top car tomorrow not a vert, or a 5spd like i really wanted originaly, but i can make due with whats available..and possibly swap out the auto for a 5 sp down the road. this is going to be a project car, but it is great condition (from what i can tell from pics) already. obviously it has the rust on the hatch..thats a gimme.
do these have those retarded carbs on tem or what? i cant think of the name right now, but those who messed with em know what i'm talking about. also, are t top stangs rare? i dont think i have ever seen but a handful of them. to top it off, this is my first stang, something i've always wanted. first thing i have planned are 90 model front and rear bumpers, lights..etc, and 90's model gt side skirts. i'm not a huge fan of the 4 eyes.

it's called cfi = central fuel infection!!= crap= ditch it = convert it to carb!! all auto equipped 85's were cfi and were flat tappet cam equipped at that too!! , my 85 used to me such, it now is carb!!!, you will pick up tons more power by just swapping to a 4 barrel

T-top stangs are rather uncommon, but there were a good number built... I have one... well, its not operational... but I own one...lol....

and do not do not do not do not do not swap out the front bumper to an Aero Nose, that kills the 4eye, and if your not a fan of a 4 eye, dont buy one and butcher it...

as for the carb, yes the automatic 5.0s were CFI, or central fuel injection... your better off swapping out the intake for a Holley 4bbl intake and a 600 or 650cfm Holley carb...

and please, do not do not do not do not do not do not do not do not kill the 4 eye....

edelbrocks are great performers series carbs on mild builds, but when you get into some real power, the holley or Demon carbs ar where it's at.....on my mildly build 302 in my 92 I have an edelbrock, works great, and in the 85 with a 347..a holley ftw

I had one on a mud truck, my buddies have had them on their cars. I have never worked on more carbs in my life than when we all had those things. leaks, tuning all the time, float problems...that was my experience with holley's. may not be everyones experience...but god god i hated them. always seemed there was something "not quite right" all the time.

the 4 eye thing will grow on you. you could always swap it for an 84, 83, 82, 82GT, 79 Pace Car, or even a capri Front end...

those versions have different style grilles and we would all not be mad at you lol...

also if you live in an area with no emissions, get an offroad pipe, ditch the 4 cats, then remove the smog pump and all the lines, and either run a shorter belt or a delete pulley...

whenever i get into the engine, i dont plan on going all out overboard with it. cam, heads, roller drivetrain, intake, carb. that kinda stuff. dont wanna stroke it or anything too radical...(at first)
