Default Hood liner

So...other than looking better with out one, is there any reason I shouldn't take out the hood liner? I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a car with the hood liner in. Or am I just dumb and people take the liner out at shows? I thought about this when I filled my coolent this morning...that thing is old and dirty and looks like crap, so I figured I'd ask.

I don't really see any reason you would have to keep it on I think the only reason its actually on is in case the under side gets too hot or catches on fire it protects your paint a little more (can't be sure tho)

its to protect the heat from damaging the paint on the hood, makes it crack and peel faster

Ok, so basicly in the long run I'll have to repaint my hood...well the car was built in 93 so...I'm gonna have to do that any way. So the damage isn't like noticably fast is it?
I suppose I could take it out and just put in in when I plan on driving for like, a really long time...which I don't do in the stang...so I'm good.

I took mine out 10 years ago and my paint still looks fine.

Did you guys know that I make hoodliners out of aircraft firewall material? The info is here in the Classifieds sections plus the address in the last line of my signature.
