skinneys and street performane?
Will running skinnies up front totally kill any street drivablitly that you have? Im looking at getting some summit sport wheels 15x8 on the back with 245's, and just dont know if i would get my self in deep **** running 4'' wide wheels up front.

Well, your cornering will be affected GREATLY!!! Straight line driving is no problem. You'll also have to be careful in the rain. What size tires were you planning on in the front and why so small in the rear? Put some 275's back there.

will 275's fit back there without any modification? Im thinking about just running 7'' wide up front with 215 since i have a new set sitting around ne ways.

I know of a guy back home runs his car with skinnies up front in the winter. That dude is an idiot though for many other reasons lol. I have 195's up front....lol.....is that considered skinnies lol. With my "fat" 215's in the rear.....Redneck slicks a.k.a. bald tires lol I really need a set of ponies to get some real tires on this thing.

the number one thing you can do to see an instant change in a cars handling is the tires .. for a daily driver skinnys are not a good idea.
they cause massive understeer . Anyone who says it handles great, probably isnt into making a car handle remotely near its limit ...why would you need a high limit on a dd ?you may ask. emergency maneuvers such as Quick braking ,swerve to miss someone ,or just having some fun.
the limits of the car can only be as good as the availability of the tires contact patch (the amount of the tire touches the ground at any given time)
on a skinny front runner that contact patch is as small as it gets as far as tires go..
on a canyon road with not very many straightaways, a slower mustang the same year as yours with stock tires could probably smoke your mustang if you put skinnys on
I'm not 100% sure but I assume that front runners wear out very fast
#1 not alot of tread to spread the weight out on
#2 they work closer to their limit during DD use than a fatter tread
#3 Front tires wear out faster anyway under normal use
#4 the engine weight is already on the front
#5 with different size tires on the front and back you cant rotate them .
do what you like but learn your tires limits if you do put front runs on so you wont be surprised when that corner sneaks up on you ..

I know I need some better tires because of the 270 degree loop turns going onto post off the interstate lol. I like taking those fast. I can take it faster in my 98 sixer but it does have a strut tower brace and my rear sway bar.
This thread is making want to go get new tires!!
