Approximate 1/4mile time?
hey, I have an '88 gt 5spd. I'm trying to get a feel for what I should be looking at before I head to the track on thursday. Here is my list of stuff:
BBK CAI, BBK 75mm throttle body and EGR Spacer, BBK Underdrive Pulleys, BBK Long Tube Ceramic Coated Headers, BBK H-pipe, SLP Loudmouth Catback exhaust, BBK Subframe connectors, FRPP Aluminum Driveshaft, Smog Pump & A/C Deleted w/ Short belt, 93+ octane, MSD distrubutor w/ msd wires and coil pack 15* advanced, K&N breather filter, E303 Cam, Tokico/Eibach Suspension (Brand New), '95 Cobra R wheels w/ 245/45R17 BF Goodrich KDWS tires all around, and a rebuilt tranny w/ Pro 5.0 shifter and Hurst handle and plate.....I have never ran this car at the track before

If your at or close to sea level, with decent temps in the 70's, and you get a great launch and good shifts, i can see a very high 13... .8's or .9's...but thats ideal, more likely to be low 14's...youve got alot of money invested I can see but if your running stock rear end gears, and a stock intake manifold and stock heads...thats seriously holding you up by like 2 seconds down the 1/4th mile...replace your E7 heads with some mild ported gt40's and get a new upper/lower intake combo(any of the street versions work about the same, edelbrock, trickflow, cobra, whatever) and throw some 3.73's in the back, or even lower if you want, and youll see 12's..with traction, which while they are great for cornering, a BFG KDW 245 isnt going to do much better than a 2.0 60' ft time even with a perfect launch...I pulled a 1.59 with a 235/60/15 Mickey Thompson...with a similar motor setup to the one i described above....don't be discouraged tho, sounds like you have a nice car, low 14's isnt so bad for a street driven daily drivable car...its quick, just the heads, intake an gears could see you 12's..and they are about 1500$ for all 3 if you do the work yourself...
With the 5.0 its all about the launch, unless your turbo or with a big nitrous setup, heres what i mean, heres my weekend car (the Black '92 GT....high 11's street legal) against a newer mustang...shows you how important the launch is(traction)...both these runs are on 235 width Mickey Thompson Drag radials...the red car I'm racing is a 5 speed 2003 GT...he missed 3rd gear so his time was slow but this shows you how important traction is...
First vid is a all-motor pass at a 13.1:

75 mm TB with a stock intake & heads? ...that will actually hurt you, 65 mm TB would be fine...MAS air Conversion?
Being that you have never been to the track, low 15's or maybe in the high 14.8's on a good run...
