Default new engine Startup w/ vacuum leak

Just wondering...I've almost completed the conversion of my 302 to a friends broken in (5000 miles) 331, but just have one question before starting it. It had a vacuum leak from the master cylinder/booster, and we're a little worried that starting it up in this fashion will be very bad for the motor. It currently has a VERY ****ty tune, and the brakes also sucked before the change. I have never changed a booster or master cylinder before, would I be ok to start the engine with that vacuum leak, or do i NEED to change it before hand. Friend mentioned something about this messing up the air/fuel, etc. Any info is appreciated, and if anyone knows where info on changing the MC and Power Booster is, lemme know thanks!

just block the line off so you have sufficient vac on start up, otherwise you may not stay alive. you dont need yoru breaks to start the car

just dont drive it with the line blocked off.

Ok, im a little lost. i have no clue how the braking system even works with those parts. The car ran and drove ok before the switch, wouldnt it be the same thing now, just with a new engine? I just wanted to make sure i wont screw anything up if it has a leak somewhere. If i have the little bit of brakes that i had before to be able to stop me wen it was stock, ill be fine for the rest of the year by downshifting. All i know is the breaks made an air "wooossshhhh" sound when i stepped on them ever since I got the car, and a reliable friend i have told me it was from the master cylinder. I figure as long as the car will run and drive i can get it to him, and he can change the booster and master cylinder, as well as my 88lph fuel pump on my 400hp 331 lol.

well starting up with a vac leak wouldnt ruin anything except poor idle and drivability. is the BB line split or something? most of the beaking system is independent from the engine except for the BB which give your power breaks and you need vaccume to make them work.

just make sure the engine all hooked up, fluids and is set up #1 cylinder TDC on #1 plug and let her rip.

if you have issues from there let us know and we'll help walk you through them
