Default Heater core is getting fixed now....

Brought it to a pretty decent shop, but do I have to worry about them losing screws or anything like that when putting it back together because I had heard there are over 100 screws involved in taking the dash off...

I wouldn't worry about them losing screws. It's a pain in the butt to remove the dash but the screws are a pretty common fit for some. I misplaced one of mine from the dash and found one sitting in my toolbox that worked perfectly, so I would say kick back and wait till their done without a worry!

Also, if it's a decent shop they will most likely have some type of bin they put all the screws and bolts into, as a lot of shops don't like spending more time on something because it was a mechanic error not doing his job right.

dont wanna be an ***, but only way to be sure is if you do it yourself. I hate having mechanics work on my car, unless its under warranty.

because I have worked as a mechanic and have seen them work. And they work on cars just to get them on the road. When I work on my own car I make sure I do it right, but they take mayor shortcuts to get more cars in and get paid more.

Do you think I have anything to worry about when it comes to the heater core replacement?

no, thats not that big of job, its pretty easy. Only thing is that if they are not carefull, you might get some extra noises from the dash or a leak if they are extremely retarded..lol. But you should be fine as long as you pick a reputable shop. I am just saying personally I rather do it myself, but if I dont have time obiosly i tkae it to a reputable shop.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I bought my 82gt about 2 months ago and I am completely new with cars. All I have done so far is change the air filter, oil and change the heater core. It took me about 7 hours, but I didn't lose any scews or have any left over. It's not a very hard job, just time consuming.
