could this be my computer?

No matter what it is, you basically have two options...
1) Completely trust the guy and let them replace the computer
2) get at least SOMETHING that will let you test or log something. Whether it's checking your fuel pressure, checking engine codes, datalogging the computer, or even asking the guy what he saw that makes him think that it was the computer.
You are basically going into it blind. There are many tools out there that are cheap or that will let you get a bit more info. It may be the computer, it may not. But you at least need a bit more info to know what is going on. Else people can only guess at what the issue could be.
Like I said before... I've seen bad fuel pumps / relays / wiring cause the fuel pump to stay on, and I've seen bad computers / bad tunes do the same. But when I see it, I try to test and eliminate as many things as possible before I throw money at replacing things.

I'm saying that it could be the computer, but it could also just be a bad fuel pump, or a few other things as well. I would ask the guy what he saw to make him think that it was the computer. Perhaop he saw something in a datalog or saw something obvious. It wouldn't hurt to ask him why he thinks that. And it would suck to waste time and money replacing the computer when it isnt needed.
