If I change the heads and go with the e303 cam should I change anything on the head im going to go 1.7 rockers but should I get stronger springs and/or possibly change to studs?

with a cam swap I'd match springs and stud mount is always stronger than pedastal mount

e-cam or tfs stage 1 cam, gt-40 intake or explorer or cobra intake, gt-40 heads lightly ported with roller rockers and all supporting mods and you'll have a decent street machine

I'd suggest GT-40P heads over the GT40's. Both are good, but the GT-40P's are a tad better at the expense of the spark plug angle which can be a problem for some headers, but there are plenty out there that work fine with the 40P's. I sat on the fence with this one for awhile, and eventually just decided to go with Edelbrocks for the time being due to the huge discount I got on the heads, but aside from that I would've stuck with the 40P's. They're almost always cheaper from what I've also seen compared to the "GT-40 Cobra head" that everyone usually scrambles after. Both of them clean up well and can give really fantastic numbers with the right person working on them.

That's just my opinion. Neither are crappy, but the 40P will reap better results than the GT40's will stock-for-stock. My setup was GT40P's, E-303, Crane 1.7's with a new set of springs. - GT40P's need to be worked a little to fit due to the head bolts, but once you get those right (if you choose to go this route) everything should be square. If you don't feel like messing with it though the GT40's do their job perfectly fine.

i also believe, stock at least, that the gt40ps will result in higher compression over the gt40s

When I put the GT40 heads on my Fox I had an E-303 cam and I didn't change springs or go to stud mount rockers and it was just fine for the street. Maybe with the 1.7 rockers you want to use you may benefit by upgrading the springs like Mjr said.

They make more compression and make real good power too, my car is a blast to drive with these heads because they make great low and midrange torque as well as high end power.
