Nope, you need a new pinion seal.

you can remove the flange and pinion nut and replace seal but also make sure there is not a groove worn on to the flange surface where the seal rides, in theroy you are suppose to install a new crush collor and reset pinion crush/ preload....but what I do often is remove pinion nut and flange , install new seal then reinstall pinion flange and nut and coat nut with thread lock and inside of flange splines with a little silicon sealer then tighten nut ligjtly with an impact until it stops spining then give it a blip or two with the impact....gotta do it real quick and feel it out so you don't over do it

I'd also drain the pumpkin...makes the job a little easier!

When you change the seal buy the seal from Ford. I've had problems with Fel-Pro seals (I love Fel-Pro stuff) as well as other brands. The FoMoCo Seals are far and above better than any aftermarket seals. I've done probably 200+ 8.8 rear gear swaps and I've never had a problem with the Ford seal. I have had problems with the seals that come in Kits and from other places including Fel-Pro. One of the big advantages with the Ford seal is it has a sealing ring where the seal hits the housing. As I know of no other seal has it. It also has a wider sealing surface on the flange hub. If you use a Fel-Pro or another aftermarket seal where a long time FoMoCo seal has been and there is a very light groove the Fel-pro won't seal good. I keep at least 4 of the FoMoCo seals in stock all the time because I still do gear swaps for others. When the customer brings me their kit I just toss their seal and throw in one of the good ones. It cost me 11 dollars but won't be going under that car again. It's Reputation insurance, lol
