its not really the block you need to worry about as far as boost goes, its the power level on the block, and boost level on the internals

A stock block's limit is anywhere from 450-500+rwhp, so it's pretty strong. A safe tune will go along way in keeping your motor safe. I'd personally just add a Vortech supercharger, full exhaust( catted H-Pipe w/quiet mufflers=sleeper), 3:73 gears, Lighntning MAF, Holley Systemax Intake Manifold, AFM Boost Pipe, 2.95 supercharger Pulley, all the necc fuel components(42lb injectors, 255lph pump), and then a good tune. You'd be looking at 350-375+rwhp. Plus, you'd still have money to invest in heads and a cam, if you're not satisifed with the power. Also, I'd look into getting a supercharger used. You can find some great deals out there(Corral.net especially).

If you add the power you need to look at your drive train and see if it will handle the power you want to make, I have seen one or two busted t-5s due to lack of supporting mods. If you have an auto a shift kit will feel great and protect your trans (less slippage due to harder quicker shifts). Have you had your rear end rebuilt (clutch packs in diffs)?

Also got to think if you can put it to the ground.
