I would buy the Weiand 174 first. It adds a lot of punch on a stocl motor. Like a 100 hp shot of Nitrous without having to fill the bottle up all the time. As you add things like better heads the blower can grow with your build by spinning the blower faster by just a pulley swap. It will stay with you into the 500 hp range. I like it better than a Blow through Paxton set up which can turn into a tuning nightmare. While the paxton can make more power on your carbed set up the Weiand is better for regular drivers. As far as the fun goes I like the Weiand 174. put some tall gears 2:73 -3:42 and when you pull away from the lights you will be putting some torque to the ground. It's a nice street set-up.
It's simple, effective and fun. Pretty cool when you pop the hood also. I had one of the 177 units on a 454 78 Chevy Suburban. I drove it for three years as a tow rig and daily driver. I loved it. Lots of 5.0 Mustangs and 94+ Z-28s got their feeling hurt by a 6000+ pound Land yacht in the stop light grand prix. Lots of fun on the drive to and from the shop everyday.

Then you would use your head to piece together a combo to fit your liking....

As far as the 174 blower goes, I wouldn't limit myself with that blower, but it all depends on what you want to do.

It was a 347 with RPM heads and a Holley supercharger carb and a very mild duration cam. It had 3:25 gears, warmed up C4 and from the outside it looked like a stock parade car. (stunning red with while top) The biggest thrill this guy got(65 years old) was pulling up to a stoplight where there was a thumping Camaro or Mustang and laying waste to them. The only hint you had on his car was if you took a good look at the skinny drag radials on the rear hiding behind the stock spinner hubcaps. As far as I know he never took it to the track so ET is unknown but He was about 75 and 3 on the street last I heard. He is ready all the time. Never has to turn on a Nitrous bottle and never has to fill it. You can't hear the blower whine until it really gets spinning and it's so quiet at idle with a pair of magnaflows that you have to be standing right up on it to hear it. The car is no match for some warmed up Terminator Cobras but he has a blast in the car.

you will have to get a cold hood to clear the blower... remember to factor in the cost for that too...

but a cowl hood on a vert looks sweet.... even my ???? brand one
