Default What Year Is This 302 ?

Alright, at school in autos another group of kids are rebuilding a 302, it doesn't need to run, they're just rebuilding it for experience.

Now they can't figure out what year it is, nor can my teacher.

Flat top pistons, tells me 86 ?

Roller lifters, tells me at least 86 ?

Now where it starts getting weird, it has a newer style 5.0 intake. It just says 5.0L EFI

But from what I could see the heads are old, not E6's, definitely not GT40P's or GT40's.

Now, on the rear or the block, top side, there are the 9 digits or however many on the block, aren't the last two numbers supposed to be the year ?

I think it's a 302 built from a bunch of mismatched parts to make one complete 302, because it's got some weird/messed up stuff.

i believe E means 80's and the number is the year. E5=85, E6=86, E7=87. also the C on that kinda stuff means 60's
normally it's the year the part was introduced

I want to say the back of the intake cover plate that says 5.0L EFI has some stuff stamped on back, like a list. 85 86 and 87, I believe some stuff was stamped across the 85 mark, but I didn't think used those intakes back then, not to mention EFI and roller lifters/motor.

rebuilding the motor and it doesnt have to run? that sorta seems non-productive...

I know, but it saves times. It's funny actually, autos 2 and advanced share the same class but do different stuff. I'm in autos 2.

Advanced kids are just rebuilding motors, but my friend and I are about the best in there so he also had us rebuild a Chevy 350 that needs to run(it does, we've run it) and I'm going to be fabricating some flanges for the manifolds and bolting twin turbos onto it. Then I'll start stuffing it into an eagle talon. Gonna be a fast ****in car.

Yea, but making radiators work is not. Gotta get them to sit right, then figure out how to rig some hoses up to work...
