the car is slow so im not to woried about the weight of the paint.

LOL ok so you wouldn't have to take it down that far. I have noticed that the paint on the bumper is less prone to cracking with less paint, if somone used a paint without a flex agent (ie cheap paint) it would caulse the best paint to crack under minimum stress. saves gobs of mony if you prep it yourself.
