Default 5 point harness opinions.

Just curious to where u guys mounted ur 5 point harness. where did u bolt it down to. Did u just drill a hole in the floor and use big fender washers? Also for the lap belt i know u guys are going to say use the factory seat belt mounting hole but the car already has a rollcage in it and the bottom bar covers that hole so its no longer a option!?! Ne suggestions would be appreciated.

Id mount the shoulder belts to the cross bar on the roll bar, the lap belt the the seat belt mounts and the submaine belt to a cross bracket for the front seat bolts

I would NOT bolt the shoulder harnesses to the floor... unless you wanted an impacted spine... you need to mount them to the cross bar on the roll cage like portmaster said.

thx for the reply guys, but now my question is for the lap belt, i also have a roll bar that blocks the factory bolt holes for the seat belt just on the d/s though. i could still use the one that would be close to the middle console. Does this make sense ? lol

if your roll bar block your mounting points they make a "wrap around" style belt which is still nhra certified and it simply wraps and locks around your roll bar, the other method would be to drill a hole in your floor find a piece of scrap metal i cant remember the gauge requirements, it must be 4" square or something and drill a hole in the middle of that as well and put that under your floor mounting should be: bolt, washer, floor, sheetmetal backing, washer, nut. hard to explain without a picture sorry

i'll have to go take some good ones, because my cell phone pic quality blows. But i'm sure you guys know what i'm referring to. I have a 10 pt cage and the bar that goes basically parrell to the sill plate. When i went and installed my cage i didn't pay attention and welded that lower bar which blocks my factory seat belt hole. i still have the center console one. I was just wondering i there was an alternative other then cutting out the bar and lowering it down abit more.

this isnt mine its off of another forum,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ro0121seat.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...eseatmount.jpg

some rules and tips for the plates and mounting:

Mount shoulder belts to a horizontal bar. Belts should mount level with shoulders or in a range of 15degrees down from level.
Mount lap belts. they should be 45 degrees from horizontal. I also make a backing plate of the same dimensions that goes on the other side of the sheet metal. Use a minimum of 10 linear inches for the plate, like a 2x3 or 2.5"x2.5" (total the dimensions along all four sides and must = or > 10")

Minimum mounting plate thickness would be 3/16"

pre fabbed mounting points : http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=3457

i dont have the rule book in front of me but this is what i followed to mount my harness and it worked
