Default C4 Valvebody

Hi everyone I havent posted here for awhile. Im currently switching from the T5 to a C4 that Im rebuilding. The only question I have is which VB should I go with? Im looking at two different reverse manual ones: a TCI and one from Broader Performance. Anyone have experience with theses or any others? Will a manual valvebody have engine braking in each gear, like when you shift down to a 1 or 2 from Drive? Im open to any suggestions. Thanks

i run a full manual VB with trans brake and electric OD delete from Art Carr. its a very nice piece. I dont know why anyone would want to engine brake. i can do it by shifting into 1st but not second. the car has brakes for a reason and its a lot cheaper to change brake pads then it is to change clutch packs.

if your going with a manual VB, get a trans brake

Check out Redneck Performance on Ebay. They make really good stuff. Stand behind there work too. I hear tell they are tied in with Art Carr some kinda way. I heard they do Art Carr's warranty work and also heard that a guy ordered a tranny from them and it came wrapped up with Art Carr name all over it. I run one of Redneck's tranny, C4 manual reverse valve body, works like a champ. Got the tranny and converter delivered for like $1270. It has been working out great thus far with no complaints.

i forgot to mention about the transbrake. I have one also, it makes for a good time launching off of it.

Do you guys think I need a transbrake? The C4 is going in a 90 LX with Edelbrock RPM heads, Air-Gap Intake, 4.10s, 27in ET Streets, and a mild camshaft. I was launching at 3500-4200 rpm and running 12.70s with the 5spd. I wasnt sure if a brake was really needed yet. What do guys suggest? Thanks

a transbrake is always good, its a great way to make up for a lack of hp or accentuate the hp you have
