I cant understand why anyone would want a turbo car for the street, let alone the track.

Turbo's make pretty BIG power at the track IMO!

turbo's are made to haul butt...just like superchargers and nitrous...i'm sure if someone puts any of the three poweradders...its cause they want and enjoy hitting the track...

The way to understand gearing ratios is to remember the number represents how many times the driveshaft rotates for each rotation of the wheel..

4.10 gears = 4.1 driveshaft rotations for each wheel rotation.

3.73 gears = 3.73 driveshaft rotations for each wheel rotation.

etc...

in the magazine car "project pro stock " i believe it was, they used 373 gears, with hp performance turbo kit, heads, intake, cam and suspension and a manual trans they got to the 10's if not the 9's.... cant remeber what there final time was

i second FivePOintOHH
would you like to elaborate on this theory of yours? turbo cars are AMAZING, have you ever rid in one? feels like a rocket ship when the boost starts kicking in, and sounds like a jet
if you notice a lot of the big time racers are now using turbo's

With pleasure. I have driven a few, 3 or 4, turbo cars on the street, albeit factory, but in my oppinion they are very finicky and ill manered. You have a rediculously slow car until you build boost, at which point it exponentally builds, and very quickly, making for wheel spinning torque at "random" or inoppertune times ( such as in inclemant weather). Its also a pain to move through traffic when you have to wait for the lag. On the track, I find it pointless to sit at the light and wait for your turbo to spool up while someone is beating you down the track. Green means go, not build pressure.

as for "big time" racers using turbos...I still dont see ANY top fuelies using turbos.
