Default Question about Mass Air

this isnt your normal mustang mass air. but a general mass air questions

it looks like a blade type insert that goes into a tube for my f-150 mass air. so if i go to turbo the truck here over the summer can i just make my own test tube or does it/should it be the same size as stock or will it matter and it will still be able to tell a/f ratio and compensate accordingly?

are these types of MAF sensors tuneable?

pulling a sensor out of it's housing is a bad idea, unless you KNOW how to calibrate it. It can be done with a datalogger, but it would be FAR easier to leave the sensor in the original housing.

ALL maf meters can be tuned if you have the right chip/tuner...

Why would you want to remove the sensor from the original housing?

I would just get a MAf set up for your end goal, whom ever you purchase the turbo from/ company see what they reccommend.

it'll be DIY like bill's thread(so no kit). the only reason i'd like to remove the blade style MAF sensor from its original housing is because its like 55mm. very small. i've looked for a perfomance MAF for the truck thats more than 55mm...doesnt really exist...so i wanted to put it in its own housing. i'd like to try and hit near the same 1000 dollar goal.

How about dropping $90 on a 90mm LMAF, and splurging on a tweecer RT?
You would have to buy the tuner in order to build the Frankenstein MAF you're planning anyway, but running the LMAF will make for a VERY easy installation.... You won't have to build a transfer from scratch.

It will be worth the $90....

i wanna turbo my truck cause its a turd and im going to have it for a long time. its a '05 f150 v6 5speed 2wheel drive. warranty is up on it, i only owe like 6500 or 6000 left on it. so i thought it'd be sweet to give it a lil bump in the *** and a little more fun to drive. by no means do i want it fast but im tired of it being no fun to drive. i cant even freakin pass someone on the interstate if i wanted to.

Dudeboy, im pretty sure the lightning MAF wont plug right in. or do you think/know it will?

302army, im not gonna turbo the fox. i already decided which way i want to go with this car

Don't injector sets come with the MAF tube that matches the size injectors?
