Default SHORT THROW SHIFTER

I have a 1987 coupe. I just recently purchased a used B&M short throw shifter. How difficult is the install and what all is involved.

you may be able to reach the 4 bolts of the cover without taking out the console. i myself took out the console but i cleaned while i was in there so it was worth my while. take out the 4 bolts on the old shifter base, remove all old silicone/rtv. replace the plastic top hat in the shift block, install new shifter(1. see below). reverse all teh steps to get it back together.

(1)to set your stops. back the stop out most of the way. pull it into 2nd gear all the way. adj. the stop until it just touches the shift handle. lock it in. then shift into 3rd gear all the way. same deal as previous step. you're all done

Ok thanks. I thought it was more difficult than that. A friend of mine told me you have to lower the tranny to install the shifter.

you dont even need to remove the console... just pull up on the black plastic trim surround by the shifter should pop off with a firm pull. unscrew the shift **** and take both boots off..
