Urghhh, don't kill a perfectly good 1st gen RX7! A V8 swap completely throws off the weight balance of the car. My friend who happens to be sitting right next to me as I'm typing this has a mint `87 TurboII and he is just cringing at the thought of the project.

I don't think that anyone dropping a V8 in a RX7 would be concerned about weight distribution. A 302 in a RX7 should lighten up the front end alot during acceleration.

What I'm trying to say is RX7s have an almost 50/50 weight balance between the front and rear of the car, I think it's something like 50.2, 49.8. A 302 weighs at least 100 pounds more than a 13B.

I say just leave the V8 where it stays and don't chop up a perfectly good RX7.

Lol, Save the Wankel. I remember those days...

I've been in to 7s for about ten years. I've had nearly twenty of them running or not. Parted out so many S5 T2's it'd make him cry. Over 3k post on rx7club.com, built big street port motors, and I hosted a large yearly rotary only BBQ for years. I used to cringe at the idea of V8 sevens also He'll get over it. Everyone does......

A 302 swap adds 200 lbs to the front at most. AT THE VERY OUTSIDE. That leaves the weight distribution still way better than most cars....

They're pretty cool in their own right. my built one putting 181 to the rear wheels out of 1.3 liters is pretty impressive considering your average stock 5.0 can barely muster 190 with five liters. Granted they make no torque without a big snail hanging off the side of them....

But yeah, I'm over 'em.

Cut it up. It would be way cooler with a V8.
