best performance computer for 5.0
#5
i just feel that im missing some easy hp. i have always had tuners for my cars and i love them, plus you can use 91 or higher gas. i had a 2001 dodge dakota with a 360 and with a superchips tuner got 50hp and 65fts by hitting enter..plus the computer is old and out of date, would you use a computer from 1993? just my two cents

There is no requirement to go to a shop for a custom tune. It can be done by the owner...
www.tweecer.com
www.moates.net
There are other suppliers, but these 2 are the most common and best supported J3 chip tuners.
Also, look into the software at
http://www.eecanalyzer.net/
BinaryEditor and EECAnalyzer are great additions and the price is reasonable.
All products I have listed are VERY well supported on the boards, but you will have to take an active approach to learning the finer points of the Ford ecu's.
It has been implied but not stated that the stock ecu in your car is somehow lacking. While the factory ecu is slow and outdated by todays standards... there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with running the factory ecu. There are many cars running modified tunes on the factory ecu's, and running very well....
good luck,
jason
