Default What controls the fan on a '94?

Hi all,

I got my anderson pms hooked up, and I started tinkering with it. One thing I've realized is that my car has a thermostat that opens long before the fan turns on, so in effect the thermostat controls coolant temps when the car is moving, and the fan controls them when stopped or barely moving. I'd like to have the fan turn on much sooner, probably about 10 or 15 degrees after the thermostat opens. I figured that the pms would have an option to set the fan turn-on temp, but it doesn't. Is there a separate temp switch that controls the fan on these cars?

Nope.... fan is turned on by the CCRM module after the ECM triggers one of its internal relays based on the coolant temp readings from the ECT sensor. 208°F is the temperature for the ECM to turn the fan on low-speed.

Ok, if the ecm triggers a relay in the CCRM module, why can't the ecm be programmed to trigger the relay at a lower temperature?

Of course it can be programmed...... BTSTDT with the TwEECer, does the PMS have that capability? It ill depend on the tuner device.

Apparently it does not have that capability. It just seems weird-it can handle timing and fuel on a cylinder-by-cylinder basis, but can't control the damn cooling fan?

Apparently the pms cannot control the fan on a '94-'95. What other options are there to get the fan to come on earlier?

Ah, thanks. I may end up using one of their controllers. I now remember that I stumbled across that site when I was considering converting my 360 duster to an electric fan.
