mercury motor
hey guys so this is just a question go easy me. My father-in-law got a good running '85 mercury marquis in the scrap yard the other day, just to ask is this block a roller. And could i just stick my H/C/I, and dizzy in it and run it that way.
ALso i got a block from a buddy that had a e-cam in it. well he left it out and in the rain, i pulled the cam today and the journals look clean but on the lopes or whatever there called there was just alittle rust. I took a scrubby and some fine sand paper to take the little pits of rust off, would this cam be ok to run? Its not bad you cant feel any pits running your finger accross and i took a lifter and ran the roller side accross it and i couldnt feel anything

it may be okay to run, pics would help, as far as the 85 motor, you'll need to get the casting number off it, it may be a roller ready block or a flat tappet one, in 85 both production blocks were used in mustangs for sure as for other ford cars??

Thanks mjr, ill borow a cam and get some pics, also i might run it by he local motor shop just so someone can see it in person.
As far as the motor ill get over there and pull the starter one day and get the numbers, iv got just a few options left before i decide wether my vibration is internal or not. Ones is to try a diffrent flywheel, and thats really about it, other than tear mine down to see of anything visable or not. but thanks for the reply

its a pretty good one. Not like **** the motors coming apart, but you can feel it pretty good throught the shifter and on your butt.
Never mind on the mercury motor, its a 83, damn lol Also im about to go get a flywheel and change that out so i can rule that not being the problem

SO far what i did was
Pulled belt off to make sure it wasnt in the pulleys,
changed balancer,
replaced tranny mount and crossmemeber mount,
changed flywheel,
put a new clutch kit in
after all this im sure its form internal, i just dont know why i have good oil pressure, no knocks no nothing im frustrated now!!l
