He saw the rags and spent thirty minutes jumping up and down about it yelling if he hadn't screwed up then we would have been bilding his engine. If you do enough work you screw the pooch every once in a while. back in the early 70's I had a guys 68 Camaro small block car in the shop where I was working. The car had a Tunnel ram and a pair of 600 Holley carbs on it. The guys carbs were leaking fuel so I took the carbs of to do an overhaul on them. I put some rags in the intake so nothing would fall down the ports. Long story short I forgot the rags were in it and fired it off and it died. I stayed all night long and pulled the heads and pulled all the valves to get shop rag out of that thing. It cost me a set of head gaskets, header gaskets, intake gaskets and valve seals along with about 10 hours of burning the midnight oil for nothing but a lesson on double checking.

I think that LT1 Trans Am is going to have a rearveiw mirror full of Mustang headlights. The LT1's Make real nice low end power (better than LS1's) where the LS1's start shinning past 3500 rpm. The LT1's also responded very well to very slight mods. A K&N cold air kit picks them up 20+ hp at the wheels. The hypertech tuner can get it another 15-20 hp at the wheels. I did a lot of work to the LT1's when they first came out and if you try to run him as is it's going to be a slaughter if his car is running on all eight. Your only hope is if that little 7.5 rear end under his T/A lets go. You are out gunned on this one.

Brand new 95 Z28 Automatic 13.20 right off the truck on street tires. Cold Air kit and Hypertech 12.95s. Edelbrock 50 state legal headers and SLP Cat back 12.60s. Drag Radials 12.40s. Those cars are very responsive to the slightest mods. They were only rated at 275 fwhp. I've seen one bone stock lay down 280 at the wheels. They were a nightmare to Mustangs when they came out. The biggest plus to those cars was the low end torque. I have to give credit where credit is due.

I've never seen a LT1 run those kinds of times stock. 13.2 with an A4 is pretty much LS1 territory which lay down anywhere from 295-315rwhp. 280rwhp is an awful high number for an LT1. I've seen 250rwhp to be a common rwhp number.
Your telling me that LT1 powered cars are as fast/faster then 3v's? I don't think the are.

Yea like said above if its an LT-1 you got a chance if you can sli pit off the line better cuz he will most likely roast, specially if hes new and nervous. If its an LS-1 swap well then your gonna need a few goodys. set of tires couple odds and ends and youll be there. If you do a roll your beat either way but remember a real race is from a stop good luck
