Default Track Times *UPDATED*

Last night I took my car to the track to see what it would do with all the recent stuff I have put on. Temp was 50 degress F and I am at 70ft above sea level.

Mods are:
GT40 heads Shaved to 63CC chambers (Comp Cams .550" Dual Coil Springs, SS Valves, Titanium Keepers)
Pro-Form Roller Rockers (1.6)
Cobra Intake
Comp Cams 35-302-8 cam, Duration: Int=281 Exhaust=284 Lift: Int=.512 Exh=.533
Edelbrock 70mm TB
24lb injectors
BBK Adjustable FPR set at 48 psi
C&L 76mm Mass Air with 24lb cal tube
BBK CAI
BBK Short tube equal length headers
Completly Balanced Rotating Assy
Dual Exhaust to Flow Super 40's with dumps (No X or H pipe)
Alum Driveshaft
3.73:1 gears
Working Trac Loc
BOI upper and lower control arms with poly bushings
Taurus Electric fan
All Accy's still on car (i.e A/C, PS) Except Smog Pump

I am running Riken Raptor Tires and I could not get these things to smoke at all, I heated them up for a good 15-20 secs and never saw smoke, on every launch I would spin through 1st until I pedaled it and then it would catch and by that time it was time to go to 2nd.

The best run I could pull last night was a 14.092 @ 98MPH

I am completly upset with this time and I am wondering what is wrong with this setup? I was expecting mid to low 13's but I pulled 6 runs and the one with the 14.092 was flawless except the traction issues. I was launching at about 1500-2000 rpm's and even trying to hit it from a dig. Can anyone offer any advice to this situation?

are those street tires? If so, that's a big part of your problem

How much hp are you putting to the wheels?

hmm not sure. it was probabley all in the 60 ft time. stickier tire 4 sure. but have you taken it to the track before, what did you get then? cuz it may just be the DRIVER mod...when i first took my 92 vert to the track (gt40 ported n polished heads, gt-40 intake, 3.73's, 70 tb, 76 mass air, shorty headers, o/r h pipe, flows, stock cam and injectors, cheap junk street tires) i would through spin 1st or would have to launch it like a granny. and the best i could get was 14.1-14.3. my bro get in the car and on his first pass its a 13.8...go figure.

That driver mod will do wonders, as will practice.

Sorry Pro, Didnt mean to put this in the wrong section, I thought I was under General.

Yes these are street Tires, and this was the first time running at the track. I didnt even care about what it did stock. I have driven many cars down the strip before and I have owned this one for 3 years, I know how to drive it. I just dont understand. This car will pull all the way to 7 grand like its nothing, but with the t5 and 3.73's it seems like there is so little rpm range left in 2nd and 3rd. I am going to look at MT Drag ET's on prostars this afternoon, I can get them both brand new for 150 so I might pick these up and see if it will make a difference.

yah those tires and you should see a big difference. but the only thing that gets me is your speed...98 mph seems kinda slow for all of those mods. what gear are you finishing in?

They will make a huge difference. I cut 1.6-1.7 60' with M/T drag Radials all day with them, no spinning at all, they hook.

If he can't get any traction, his e/t will still be low.
Doing burnouts on street tires does absolutely nothing. They just won't hook.
You need better tires.

If you can get wheels and tires for 150 new, you better hop on that deal!!

i heard that buring out with street tires makes it worse, just clean them off with a 1 sec burn out.
