You might be able to keep the dist in idk when I pulled my motor apart I yanked it out lol, and as far as your rockers go if they're pedestal mount then you just tighten them down and you're all set if they are stud mount you gotta set them. and as for your head bolts 55lbs 1st pass 72 on the 2nd start from the middle and work your way out.

Some C4's have a slightly differant shift pattern. The first stop is to start the car in 2nd, instead of 1st. It was Ford's idea of traction control. The second stop started out in first, and then went up to 3rd. The last stop held it in first until you manually upshift. But it would usually upshift to 3rd. This is not a good trans to use if you're doing any racing at all. Nice for a daily driver, though. I had one of these in my '66 coupe.
If you have pedestal style rocker arms, they are designed to simply bolt down onto the pedastals. This change was made to make engine assembly at the factory easier. It is not designed to give you the best adjustment.
Follow the instructions on the Comp Cams web site for adjustable rocker arm adjustment. You should get pretty close to a perfect lash adjustment when the rockers are torqued to spec. You might need to shim the rockers or shave the pedestal (or get longer push rods) to get proper adjustment.
