Default Couple questions about 331 build

What kind of power could I expect from a H/C/I 331?

I was planning on using a DSS level 10 block. Anyone have any experience with one of these? What kind of power will it be able to hold? (may throw on a big shot of nitrous or go F/I down the road)

Here's the plan I have going on in my head:

Buy heads and intake first. Thinking AFR 185s. Not sure what intake yet. Any suggestions?
I would install the H/I on the 302 already in the car to hold me over with a little extra power while I build the 331.

Then as money allows I would get the block and rotating assembly, as well as a cam (maybe custom grind?).

Once I got the short block all finished up I would swap the heads and intake from the 302 over to the 331 and stick the stroker in the car.

Anyone see anything wrong with my plan or having any other recommendations for the block/intake/heads/cam/whatever?

Sorry if this post is kind of rambling; it's late at night over here in the Middle East and I'm bored

just so you know a level 10 is still a stock block...still basically has the same threshold of a stock block...it you haven't bought it yet, pass and get a 351w block...so much more meat in the lifter area

I bought a Level 10 block with all level 20 upgrades except screw in freeze plugs. For a stock based block it's a really nice peice with top rate machine work. I would buy heads and throw them on another engine until you build the block. I would throw a big shot of Nitrous on a stock block Maybe 100 shot on a well built 331. I'd go 347.

OP define your goals for the car.......for most forum goers a stock block will support and or be adequate for what they have planned,

I agree, why build a 331 when a 347 cost's no more..........

Ideally I'd like to have 350+ rwhp to hold me over while I piece together a turbo kit. Chose a 331 because I've read on multiple sources that its better for boost than a 347 due to the better rod length ratio

I would go with Fordstrokers(Woodsy's on here quite a bit) before DSS. The prices are practically identical. Although I have not had personal experience with DSS, I have read many horror stories about their shortblocks and their poor warranty system. Again, no personal experience, but just a suggestion.
