96 explorer motor n my car ?
ok im pissed lol . my buddie got his stang runnin good tonight its a 89 gt 5 speed . has e303 cam and found out has gt40 heads but stock intake . i have same set up as him other then heads and he beat me bout car n half length in 1/4 . didnt no heads would make that big of a difference. but after got done runnin sht out my car heard something no one likes to hear . has slight main knock to it . so fck it i know where 96 gt40 explorer motor is complete engine for 450 . can i take my e303 cam out mine and jus put in that and drop that motor right in my car . or will i have to change injectors or anything else .

swapping your parts over to the explorer motor will net you a slower running car. those engines had lower compression than the mustang motor.
you want to rebuild your current motor and get some P heads, and a better cam

well i jus found set gt40s for 100 . so i think im gonnna pull my motor n put new bearings in it and put those gt40 heads on it . i have a buddie with machine shop and im gonna see what he charge me to port n polish em . i would look for a set of p heads but think read on here before that id have to buy new headers ? and also whats the diff in between p's and jus stock 40's ?

Nope like adder said they have dished pistons with valve reliefs and the regular mustang had flat tops with valve reliefs. The exploder motor was rated at 215hp with gt40 heads and intake while the stock mustang was rated at 225hp with e7 heads and crappy intake. The Cobra motor was only rated at 235hp with gt40 heads and cobra intake and different cam.

are the pistons the same? everytime i hear about people getting gt40(p) heads they said they milled off .030 to square the deck and get the compression back to normal. so i assume gt40's have larger cc chambers?
