5.0 mods on a budget

if you have zero mods...i'd be making sure everything is sound first..compression test coolant pressure test vac test...before i do anything to the motor.
full exhaust was the first mod i ever did then gears then ended up getting a better clutch.
a complete tune -up and code check would be on the check list before i started on a h/c/i upgrade, and this can set you back $3000 to $8000 depending on what you want.
people always neglect everything that is needed to support added/better parts..for every action there is a reaction.
then as you get faster/quicker you got think about safety brakes/suspension/bracing/ect.
these are just a few things to help ya think about what you thought you want, and what you need.

2k is not much if it's 100% stock. i would do gears, headers (weak point they stock ones are really restrictive) Tune up. but if the car has gears and some exhaust work then go ahead and start piecing together an h/c/i or get a top end kit i seen one at lmr.com for 1,600 but you will need new headers due to the gt40p heads. hope i helped

^^^^^^ good idea also you can get really good deals on used s/c. just make sure the car is sound and throw one of those 8psi system that pretty much bolt on. i think 8 psi is good for 275 hp. hell of a sleeper with stock exhaust and everything

If I got a complete kit would I need any other supporting mods to run a Vortech Supercharger? Looks like their are some pretty cheap used kits out their.

If your car is stock or mostly stock, and if the kits are complete all you will need is a 255lph fuel pump($120), and spark plugs that are one heat range colder(Autolite 3924 gapped to .032, $14 for 8). A Vortech kit is meant to work with stock motor'd cars. You want to make sure it comes with an FMU. If you really modify it down the road, then you will need what JK59GT2000 has suggested. The SC is easy to install and will make your car pull much harder. There is nothing like boost.
